Candy Colored bags

1. Givenchy bag 2. Balenciaga 3. Marc Jacobs Party Foret bag 4. Proenza Schouler PS1 Mini (resort) 5. Mulberry Edie bag 6. Proenza Schouler PS11.

I can't help thinking about spring and when I do all I want is color. There are so many vibrant hues to choose from this spring that one bag will not suffice. I've selected bags from the hottest designers and in the newest shapes. The color in these bags will inject life into any outfit which is definitely needed after a long winter! They would also make for a very nice Valentine's day gift since they come in these beautiful candy colors:) My personal fave is the Mulberry one!

Are you pursuing your dreams?

(Blazer-Zara, top-Urban Outfitters, Pants-Joe's Jeans, Shoes-Nine West)

So last night I couldn't sleep and kept watching old episodes of the Hills. I couldn't help thinking about what a great internship Whitney and Lauren had at Teen Vogue. Likewise I often think about one of my favorite stylists Rachel Zoe (love her book in my last pic) and how she has made her life passion into a career. I love hearing stories about people who have pursued their dreams and succeeded. We sometimes need not worry so much about societal pressures and fear of failure. All this to say "All our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them." -Walt Disney.

Are you pursuing your dreams?

Sorry if my post is corny:)

Mixing Prints: Stripes and Leopard

(Top & Belt-BCBG, Skirt & Shoes-Zara, Clutch- Banana Republic)

Well, most of this weekend was spent indoors watching movies(saw the Valentino movie again!), lunching at Olive and Gourmando's and chilling with friends. Had some colleagues over on Friday night and we chatted about fun girl stuff like new purchases, office politics and good restos. Hopefully the cold snap will reside so I can wear this outfit tomorrow. Also check out my giveaway, there is still time to enter!

BTW would highly suggest you watch Valentino : The last emperor movie.  I think I watched it about 4 times already. It's a documentary about Valentino's life and how he is the last couturier. Really funny and if you understand italian even funnier! He is such a personality!

Here is the trailer:

The sunlight is deceiving...

(BCBG coat, Joe's Jeans top, Jbrand jeans, F21 scarf, MK gloves, Tom Ford sunglasses, Foley & Corinna bag)

The sunlight in January is always deceiving, because it looks so beautiful but then turns out to be blisteringly cold (I promise I will stop talking about the weather)! But I put on some layers and braved it!  As you can see I have been loving the wide leg look (which is really big for spring, so be sure to get a pair) this week which is great for casual Fridays in the office. I love the wash and fit of these jeans (Jbrand-Lovestory) and always find myself wanting to wear them.  They're a big hit with celebrities and everyone from Kate Moss to Jessica Alba has a pair and the reason is how universally flattering they are on everybody (don't you wish all jeans fit this way:).

What is your favorite pair of jeans? for both work and play?

I want to raid this woman's closet...

Giovanna Battaglia  used to be a model and now she is a freelance stylist and editor for L'Uomo Vogue.  Her style is amazing and I would love to be her BFF and steal her great fur coats, amazing bags and shoes.  She is so effortlessly cool and love the way she mixes her stuff together! She is definitely one of my style icons!

Rocking to the 70's vibe

(BCBG sweater, Zara pants, Michael Kors shoes and watch, random bag and necklace)
The clogs, wide leg and woolly sweater are all reminiscent of the 70's but with a modern twist. They're also warm which is perfect for the cold weather we are having!  Apart from going to work and running errands I've been staying in lately. It feels good to come home after work and relax with a hot chocolate and some good magazines.  This weekend will try to go out to restaurant week which is happening in Old Montreal. Have a great hump day!

Help please! I have a fashion dilemma

(Kate Bosworth in her Isabel Marant booties)
So I bought these boots on Friday after a long week at work, knowing full well that those little beauties would make me bust my monthly budget.  But the thing is that I have been looking for the Isabel Marant look a likes for a while and finally found them in my size at Mango (don't you love how I rationalize it!). What do you guys think: should I keep them or be good and return them?

Also doesn't Kate always look so effortlessy cool!

The girl with the red lips?

(Jacket & top-GAP, Skirt-BCBG, Boots-Zara, Bag-Louis Vuitton)
Oh right, that's me! I wanted to start the week off with some color to offset the cold and dreary days.  For months now I have been wanting to buy a red lipstick but was convinced that the color would not suit me. I thought it was just too intense and that I could not pull it off but really it just takes getting used to and finding the right "red" for you. I actually got one at the pharmacy (Rimmel-Jet Set Red) after trying a few at MAC and not being fully satisfied and committed.

What do you guys think of red lips?

These 2 bags are so perfect for spring and would love for them to find their way into my closet! The color and shape are so versatile they will match with everything.

What are your fave bags for spring?

Black and Camel

(Zara blazer, pants and shoes, American Apparel t-shirt, Banana Republic Belt, MK watch)

Are you the type of person who waits for the perfect occasion to wear your new clothes, shoes and bags? I usually can't wait to wear my new stuff and this was no exception. I wore the shoes to work immediately on Monday and today I'm wearing the shoes (again!) with the pants that I bought over the weekend. The weather here is so terrible that I cannot take any outdoor pics (really cold and gray) so we tried to make the indoor lighting bearable. I realize now how hard it is to take indoor pics, especially when you 're a beginner!

Anybody have suggestions on how to take good indoor pics?

New Purchases!

(Leopard shoes-Zara)

(Stripped navy sweater-H&M)

(Navy jersey blazer-Zara)

(Straight leg pant-Zara)

As promised, here are the purchases I made over the weekend at Zara and H & M. I can easily see myself wearing these items into the spring and will get good usage out of them for both work and play.  For some reason, loving navy these days and the color will be big for spring (can you tell I can't wait for better weather). Wasn't too sure about the pointy toe shoes, but since they were leopard I could not resist (also Isabel Marant had brought the pointy toe back!).

What do you think of a pointy toe?

Denim and Corduroy

(Diesel denim shirt, Zara pants and boots, No name jacket, LV bag, Banana Republic scarf)

This past weekend I got some shopping done (mostly at Zara) and will soon show you all my purchases, but these corduroy pants are one of them. I couldn't wait to wear them so I decided to pair them with a denim shirt and aviator jacket for a relaxed feeling. We went grocery shopping in Little Italy and found some great authentic food and later stopped in a cafe for lunch. Love getting chores done and having fun at the same time! But for the work week the pants can easily be worn with a blouse and cardigan for a more formal look.

How was your weekend? Any good shopping finds?

Inspired by...

(Jacket-H&M, pants-Zara, tank-Aerie, Shoes-Nine West, Scarf-BR, Locket-F21)

WhoWhatWear is one of my daily reads because you can get good information on new products and great outfit ideas.  Just the other day I saw this post and thought that I had a very similar jacket that I bought at H&M a while ago. Love the one worn by Clemence Poesy!

Can't wait for this weekend as I am exhausted from the work week!  I plan on relaxing, shopping and catching up with friends.  What are your plans for the weekend?

Girl on a Budget

At the end of 2010 I decided to put a budget in place for my shopping(are you a little surprised that someone who works in finance is only now starting to put a budget in place?).  Some of you may think, why limit yourself, but I think that it will actually help me to build a better wardrobe. I will definitely think before I purchase something useless or very similar to something I already own. I want to build a wardrobe with classic pieces that will stand the test of time(with some trendier ones of course!).

Here are some pics of small purchases I made recently, a white tank that goes with everything, an off the shoulder stripped top and some comfy lounge pants for when I come home from work. Also bought these cute notebooks(to record all my expenses in), one from Marc Jacobs(Breakfast at Bleaker!)and the other with the bohemian girl on the cover.

Do you guys put a budget in place for shopping??  Let me know what you think?
